Karen Grant's live appearances combine Christian jazz music, ministry, and fun. When Karen appears live, her performance is generally in one of the following formats:

• Solo performance: Karen sings to pre-recorded music soundtracks, and makes brief comments between most songs.
• Variety performance: Karen sings to soundtracks, but also works with her husband David. David is off to the side, running the sound equipment; but he's visible, and he has a microphone, and between songs, Karen and David talk and joke back-and-forth, turning the appearance into an enjoyable comedy/variety show.
• Band performance: Although Karen does not normally use live backup musicians, she occasionally puts together a band for special events, with sufficient advance notice.
